3 simple ways to stay connected and healthy in the New Year

Resolutions for the whole family2012 is just around the corner and I don’t know about you but we’re still basking in the warmth of a wonderful Christmas spent with family.

We would really prefer to linger in our PJs all day long, sip hot chocolate (coffee for me), and cuddle by a warm fire.

But…time marches on and as this New Year approaches, it’s a wonderful time to reflect and focus on what is truly important.

I’m not much of a resolution maker. I am, however, a huge believer in fresh starts and taking the time to refocus our priorities.

As parents, we often put our children’s health and happiness on the top of our to-do lists. And, this is as it should be. However, we should remember to put ourselves up there too. If mom and dad are happy, our children will be happier too.

So, in the interest of simplifying and putting health and happiness for the whole family as top priority, I’ve come up with 3 ways to stay healthy and connected to your children. After all, health and happiness is truly a family affair.

Click here to read this week’s Dr.Mom column over at the Sac Bee to see what my top 3 priorities will be for 2012.

I hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful holiday together. What are you looking forward to in 2012? Do you make resolutions?
