My First Vlog: Keeping Baby Safe in the Sun

I’m taking the plunge…the vlogging plunge, that is.

I’ve decided to start recording Video Shorts. I will be recording brief video tips on various parenting and child health topics. Please bear with me as I learn the fine art of vlogging, editing, sounding decent on camera, etc.

I started with, How to Keep Your Baby Safe in the Sun. Please I would love your feedback, including any topics you would like me to cover in the future. Here goes…enjoy the beginnings of summer.

How did I do for the first time?
Do you have any questions about sun safety and your baby?

My 4yo's response (He was sitting on my lap while I watched.) was, " Ahhh, that's so cute." Ha! You did great Melissa! Love that it was short & concise.

You need a segment on a television daytime talk show!

    OK.

    LOVED the info.

The only thing I can think of is that I wish there wasn't so much background.

Otherwise, if your face was closer, it'd be perfect.

Awesome! Have you done this before ;). I agree with the person above that you should do short segments on a morning show. Well done!

Absolutely wonderful! Terrific info, straight to the point, helpful but not preachy (something that can be hard to do with a vlog).

    Congrats Dr. Mom! :)

Great job on the hardest part – how you look and sound on camera.

The only thing I would change is the background. It should be plain or have items framing you (not a door right in back of you which distracts). I think it might work better having a non-white background if you are able.

The video was good but I usually read your posts via the RSS feed and the video wasn't part of the email I received so I had to click through to your regular site.

Yay Melissa! You rocked it! My only suggestion is maybe just a different background or even a closer shot! Other than that you were clear, engaging and informative! :)

My son was prescribed sun because he was born slightly jaundiced. I find it difficult to believe that sun is good only for jaundiced babies, and that it is strictly bad for the rest.

In fact there is at least one study from Spain that found that sun exposure was inversely related to asthma, i.e. sun exposure reduced the incidence of asthma.

It seems to me that rather then tell the world to keep their babies out of the sun, it would be better to tell them to let their babies get 10 minutes of sun per day.

Great job on the vlog and it was the perfect length.

Sunscreen is very important for kids as well as adults.
